I’m Julia.

I have been editing and producing video for almost 10 years, starting with my personal YouTube channel in middle school. Since then, I have been developing my skills in filmmaking as well as photography, graphic design, and sound design. I have been playing the French horn since middle school, and I hope to use my education in music to inform my work as a filmmaker throughout my career.

Recent Work

I'm currently self-producing a mini-documentary about Holy Rood Cemetery in Washington, D.C. The cemetery has fallen into disrepair, but the community has fought to keep it open and restore it to its former glory. This is a camera test and teaser trailer I put together, showing the beauty and dilapidation of the cemetery.

During the summer of 2022 I was the associate producer for the short documentary “Iowa Nice” by Sara Terry. The short film was made to accompany the feature length “A Decent Home,” which brings awareness to the issue of affordable housing in mobile home parks. I was heavily involved in the filming of “Iowa Nice” as well as the impact campaign for “A Decent Home.”

In the fall of 2023, I completed an independent study to complete a requirement for my BA in Music. This documentary was the product of a semester’s worth of research, writing, producing, and editing almost entirely solo. I felt this project was a way for me to apply my film experience to my more formal music education.
